'scuse me thread, do you know why I Mod-hammered you?

That's right, you need to fix your off-topic posts.

I'm gonna let you off on a warning this time.

So, how are the pads on these?
I just ordered a pair, so I'm hoping they'll be pretty comfortable.

Pads are amazing. So comfy I bought three pairs for my D2000, Pro900, and Q40.

Same here.
Bought an extra pair for my HE-5LE and will probably buy some other for my future headphones.

For those on a budget, the HM5 pads are surprisingly good for the money. They certainly feel much better than the stock Hifiman pads and sound closer to the velours, which I prefer.
They almost feel like real leather but I suppose they cannot be at this price.

By comparison, there's no doubt the Alpha are real lambskin leather! They truly are premium pads: they feel good, smell good and sound good, period!

Together with the Mad Dogs they form the most comfy headphone I owned, bare none (even the DT-880). I sometimes put them on just to feel how comfy they are!
This might sound stupid buy I know I'm not the only one who does that :p

Where is the nwes that audeze stopped working on the closed-back lcd?

They didn't. They just said they were hiring a new engineer specifically to work on the closed-back LCD.
