Hello so im new to headphone and any audio related stuff and just barely started buying kinda a nice HP's like a secondhand BW p7 wireless a month back and i always wanted to try on open back's, found Aeon flow open secondhand online locally here for $200 is it worth it? The downside is the pads already so used like the leather got peeled all over and i don't know how it will effect the sound and comfort , and because it's my first open back im really worried that mu rumbling room AC gonna effect my music with it, can someone expirienced with this can confirm? , oh and also i only been using apple dongle Dac so will it perform good ? Cause i think if i buy the aeon i can't really buy any other audio equipment for a while since
Take it, the original pads usally peel after a couple of years.
U could order a pair of real leather to vesperaudio

If i bought aeon , most likely i wouldn't buying replacement pads since im in asia (indonesia) and those pads comes from west cost literally like half the headphone itself.

One thing im curious about is since thepad already peeled a lot should i just brush off everything clean alltogether? Or should i just leave it like that ?

Oh and also right now i only got a apple dongle lightning dac, can those be enough to power them?

Maybe u can fix then brushing it, don't know, but for a total of 300dollars a "new pair" of aeon is a bargain for that quality of musicality and detail.

Btw. A new pair of real leather from vesperaudio cost around 70 dollars send from russia

After owning the aeon flow open for the last 4 years I still love them but I want an upgrade, same sound signature but better. Can anyone recommend anything else?
ZMF Atticus offers a similarly thick, warm sound, plush and enveloping. Not a planar though.

I bought the Aeon Flow Open a few years ago and thought they sounded pretty decent at the time.

I later ended up with the Aeon Noire (and HD600) and couldn’t listen with the Aeon Flow Open any longer. To my ear they had a “hollow” sound that I couldn’t unhear once I became aware of it.

The Noire was, to me, better in every way without the hollow sound. I don’t know that I can say they had a similar sound signature but they were certainly more enjoyable and they might be worth considering if you like the Aeon comfort, looks etc.

I had planned on keeping the Aeon Flow Open but didn’t because I simply would never use them in preference to the Noire or HD600.

If it’s the original Aeon Flow Open, then the Aeon Flow Open X that you can purchase over Drop is a natural upgrade with a better midrange that let’s vocals, instruments and overtones into the picture.
I’ve owned the Aeon Flow Open X and loved it for what it was but have since then upgraded to the Harmonicdyne Zeus Elite that fleshes out the midrange even better still.
Both of these options are warm bodied like the original Aeon Flow Open but sound more realistic to my ears. Not a hint of high frequency nuisance either. The Zeus Elite is a dynamic driver headphone though. Highly recommended if you dig a warm sound but also want vocals and instruments to retain some semblance of realism👍

That’s crazy , are they warmish darkish? Im treble sensitive

They are a V signature with a bit of a boost in the bass and treble. If you are treble sensitive they may not be for you. I haven’t had the Flow Open for probably a year but I certainly recall the Noire being crisper in the treble, which I preferred but of course your preference might be quite different.

They have very good general tonality which is very important to me.

Might be worth trying if you have somewhere that you can audition them. If not I could not hand on heart recommend them given that the treble might be problematic for you.

I own the 660s2 and actually find they upgrade over the aeon flow but still they aeons are faster and planar so I guess I’m looking to get something that’s even better than the 660s2 and aeon flow open combined

The thing is I do own the 660s2 and find they upgrade the aeons in many ways except of course they are dynamic and not planar , still I really like the way Dan Clarke presents that roomy sound , like if the band or the music is playing in a holografic little space somewhere in your head. I’ll probably try them for sure

The densest (white) tuning filters do cut back the treble bite more than I like but that might be a good thing for you. Based on what you have said I would listen to them with the white filters installed from the get go.
