did I miss this option somewhere? - I only see image attachments - gives error for other file type
 
if you've got the space for image attachments then it seems useful to also allow some other file types that support DIY and other information exchange
 
spreadsheet files (like the headphone sensitivity spreadsheet) are useful for compilations/comparisons and parts lists/Bill of Materials
 
source and lib file types for popular freeware simulators/EDA tools: LtSpice, Tina, Eagle, KiCad
 
or for OpenOffice
 
even just allowing down load link to .txt attachements lets people put up just about anything and users can edit off the .txt extension once downloaded to their computers
 
 
 
.wav or compressed clips (meeting "fair use" length) may get too large but would enable "hear this" comparisons

Ditto. I don't want to have to use some file uploading service just to upload a BOM sheet. And the fact that these file uploading services won't hang on to them forever.
