Well, since it‘s the "five year jublieum" I‘d expect five sales. But since the actual jubilee date was December 1st I think that‘s it for now, next chance will probably be when it‘s time to celebrate ten years. Maybe we should start saving some money for that right now…

Today for the first time I plugged the Aria into my computer. Windows XP found it right away, and it was auto-configured without any issues. 30 seconds later I was getting music directly out of iTunes via USB from the Aria. Nice!

I will listen a while before I post detailed thoughts about the sound of the DAC, but I really can only compare it to how the Aria sounds from it's analog inputs, which, on first blush, seems very similar.

There's a Texas Instruments chip in the lower left quadrant in the second photo near the cluster of gold and black caps. Isn't that it?

Has anyone used this with a Mac's USB port? Will it work with 1.0 USB or does it demand 2.0 USB? I'd like use the Corda Aria on my Mac and move my HR-2 to my stereo.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I believe that most (if not all) external DACs that run off of USB can run off of USB1.1 without any problems. I'm sure that someone else will be able to confirm/deny this.

I do it right now and for several weeks now without any glitches. USB 1.1 can do 12 MBit/s (IIRC) and even uncompressed CDs in iTunes are 1411 KBit/s so that should be uncritical.

with USB 1.1 burners you could play without problems audio CDs and burn up to 4X CD-R (sometimes not well, but it worked)... don't worry USB 1 will be enough (you won't get more data to the aria than from an audio cd via usb)

I'm pretty sure that if you have a recent mac (let's say with 10.4) core audio should manage the device without problem (many people use creative usb boards even if it's unsupported by the manufacturer, just an example...)
