Although if we're gonna be totally literal about imagetypes, JPGs are lossy, GIFs are not!

GIF uses lossless compression, but it also uses indexed colors. Anything with more than 256 colors is going to be irreversibly changed, which isn't lossless.
 
It would be a lot like an audio format that uses FLAC-style lossless compression, but chops off everything above 10 kHz. You could hardly call it lossless.

Yup. Jpgs could be compared to mp3s. They're both lossy file formats: the data that comes out is not the same as the data that went in. How much you want to compress them affects the extent of the loss. Gifs are indexed color formats: each pixel has to be one of a palette of up to 256 colors, no mixing permitted. But the image data is compressed using a lossless method.

My Justin Bieber picture thingy, that weirded out a couple of you, is actually based on a fellow Head-Fier that loves the DT-770 PRO 80. Good luck finding who it is!
 
Oh, man. The pictures based on audio as it changes quality..genius! I specifically loved the VBR one.
