Oh and somehow I missed this, but in red it's said the unit is already at the store, so customers can come and listen. But as for the price, that's just what they predict, apparently matrix hasn't decide what the price will be, but at least we know the price bracket.

So where can this be ordered and arrive from soonest? Pricing for features is attractive, as is the chassis and fascia.

If you are in the USA, contact Arthur at Matrix USA. He's a good guy to deal with - I've known him for a while, since before he became the Matrix distributor, and he's helped me out quite a bit. Product ships from Matrix in China but support comes from him and RMA shipments go to him in New Jersey.

Also, the material for the case is apparently the same like the X-SPDIF (this one most likely got inspired by stello u3).

It looks similar on the outside but the guts are different.

Sent an email to Arthur this afternoon. Will be anticipating his reply on official US pricing and availability.

I guess DSD is going to start appearing in lots of DACs now.

I would like this DAC to be compared with the Mytek DSD DAC.  What really held me back from the Mytek was the Saber chip they use.  However, it's getting pretty good reviews thus far.

i'm wondering how this dac will compare to the new Yulong DA8 and D8?

Interesting flagship. Seems DSD is all the rage this year.

Another hype. Nobody has music in DSD anyway.

That's one impressive chassis, would take a bunch of hours milling from a block of T6061 aluminum. Looking forward to more detailed pics. The specs seem to be too general.

I can't swallow the front panel design though... would prefer they just leave out that ugly 'X-SABRE' font.

It's not ideal, but I don't mind it too much.

My $.02 on DSD - it is marketing hype in the sense that any new DAC released this year will be ridiculed if it doesn't support DSD - yet there is very little music available in the format. But I do think it sounds excellent. As with any other hi-res material, it's questionable whether a particular recording sounds better because of the extra bandwidth of the format, or just due to superior mastering or some other factor. It's rare to find the same release in multiple formats where you know they are all from the same original... so comparisons are very tricky.

But in the end all I care about is good music - and I'll take music I like in any format. Some of the 2L Records demo tracks in DSD are amazing, as is the Steve Hoffman master of Bob Marley's Legend in plain old boring 16/44.1 format.
