Master Clock Talk

Hi all,
A new small box branded LHY arrived with FEDEX today. I bought the new small SW-6 switch even though I have the SW-8. I snatched the SW-6 because I like to have an galvanic isolated RJ45 port to connect the media bridge with and also of course, the 10MHz input to feed from my Mutec REF10 SE120. The SFP port will be used later. I have just put it to work/burn in. Sounds nice already
Have a nice weekend

Just a follow up.
The SW-8 blows things up as an "exploded view" schematic of the sound scene. The SW-6 is probably more true. I have only had the SW-6 running/burned in for approx. 6hrs and it is nicely balanced already. I am running it with the Mutec REF10 SE120. The internal OC-clock will probably be burned in anyway.... i guess...

The sound up to now is nice. The auditorium needs to expand a bit to meet my demands. Lets say that the SW-8 is 107% and that the SW-6, right now is 85-90 % in "exploded view" level => Sound scape.
I expect some maturing here. I will reoprt further findings here.

What I am finding is that the Gustard K-2 synthesiser module in all their current high end DACs must be a disciplined (i.e. guided) clock, in that the external clock makes it run better, rather than cutting it out altogether. The tungsten block on my X26 Pro DAC's K-2 has made a remarkable improvement in fine detail without getting harsh, a real win-win for me, while still using an AfterDark external clock.

On that bit of learning, I am going to do another tungsten block mod on my U18 DDC K-2 module as it may give a little more performance again.

I was listening last night and remarking to myself how much fine detail was evident in what I was hearing. A bit like @JaMo description of an 'exploded view' of the sound :relaxed:

I ordered two 2 cm3 tungsten cubes to try this tweak with the K-2 of my R26, and the OCXO of my OCK-1.

Please don't permanently bond them on my account. I knew what I was doing and what to expect, you may not like the results.

Possibly use a small knob of Blu-tac to try a semi-permanent bond at first.

I don't have the intention to permanently bond them.
I'm going to replace the R26 in a few months, and I will not sell it tweaked.

I can highly recommend the X26 Pro as being an ultimately more resolving DAC than the R26 :smirk:

I have the intention to move to a DAC with a LVCMOS input.

Could you name a few? Or are these all DIY boards?
I will try to find an option to mod an UD-701N.
If it's impossible, I may buy a T+.

Im wondering if the clock input on R26 is an afterthought since the connector doesnt have pcb lanes(connector not soldered to the pcb)

Are all Gustards like this by design?
Is it an advantage?

The X26 Pro doesn't have a PCB clock input, I have replaced my link cable with a T-Flex 405 jumper although now my clock comes in from the U18 via I2S. See my photo above.
