Assume some arbitrary PCB mounted components in a Hammond case, be it mounted to the case with standoffs or slot mounted. What methods do some use for making accurate holes?
I'm pretty fond of tomb's idea of printing off (or drawing) the panel layout on a piece of paper then rubber cementing the sheet onto the panel to be cut. Rubber cement is super easy to clean off.
I used frontpanelexpress.com's free software to design the panel and then printed it out and glued it to some cardboard. Cut out all the holes and made sure it was accurate (basically made a mock-up panel). I then submitted the order to FPE but it still would have made a good template if I wanted to cut the holes myself.
