Hi all

Im trying to decide on either the Schiit combo or the EHP Odac.

I have the Denons and Grados and will be getting the HifiMans at the end of the year.

Which stack do people think matches best with the headphones?

Thanks a million

I would think both choices would do the job (well).

Thanks again Purple Angel, any other comments? Ive seen on other threads that the Schiit grear drives the HE500 well, how about the ODAC?

Not sure which would drive the HE-500 better, maybe you should ask a bunch of HE-500 owners.

For he500 you go with magni/modi combo.

And that would be why, exactly?  Not saying it doesn't work well as I simply haven't tried them but your categoric statement requires some arguments. Have you even heard the O2D?   What I can say is that the Epiphany acoustics setup does drive the HE-500 very well for me.  Much better than the FiiO E17/E09K combo.  Don't think you can find equivalent quality at less than double the price of the O2D.  I use it at the office, at home I have a vastly more expensive setup (Violectric V800/V200) which is very good but in terms of bang/buck the Epiphany Acoustics implementation wins hands down.  Only disadvantage imho is that it doesn't take a big headphone jack and that the AC connection is at the front, other than that it's perfect:  neutral, ample power and a dead quiet background.

I have 2 o2, one is o2 jds, one is o2/odac jds "black edition" (probably is the case work only). And I have listen to HE500 (my friend can) though many amps...include audiogd 15.32, audiogd sa31 nomal version, o2, ck2iii, zana deux (can counting more...) And we think a bit more of power will never hurt this can...

my very best :)

They need more power than average but they're not the HE-6 either, I find the O2/ODAC has ample power to drive these with headroom to spare.
