im looking for a closed back headphone for portable use.
so far i have my eyes on the audio technica m50 and 700mk2.
i wonder if theres anything better.
my priorities are
good highs
good mids
good quality bass(quantity not important)
seperation
isolation(since it is for portable use)
soundstage(not an easy one is it..)
portable
price range around the same as m50 or 700mk2 or less (just not ready to spend any further than their price range)

so far i not sure which to choose, m50 or 700mk2
i need proper information both these cans.

if any more information like preference is needed, i do enjoy my music on my big and not portable sound leaking ad700.
much more than my rx700.
i do not believe that the ad700 are made for classical music, gaming etc...

so are there any good suggestions that also come with information?
thanks in advance.

Some may disagree but the characteristics you seek at that price point are generally strong points
of open headphones. Clear as a bell mids, sweet highs, separation airiness - not exactly the dreams
of a closed cup design at that price anyway. Sorry.

maybe i should just hop on the m50 wagon like everybody else.
though i kindda understand that the the m50 might just be a hype.
maybe theres a good reason why they're all the talk.

bass quantity is not my thing. i prefer it fast rather than extended.
how do those you recommend me do in the highs mids and lows?
and sound signature as well.

I can think of no better recommendation to this than the FA-003 or FA-002w (w = wood, the regular 002 is open).

Oh and the neither the M50s or the 700MKII have the qualities you are looking for. Both have bloated exaggerated bass, and the MKII has fairly recessed mids from what I've heard. The M50 was an excellent can for $80, now its not such a good deal.

how about the ultrasone headphones?
there seems to be alot of portable closed cans on the ultrasone line.
is there a ultrasone headphone that is around 150USD or less that comes closest to my demand?

If you can, audition the PRO550, soundstage on the PRO550 pretty good. Although the PRO550 is not really portable, its diameter is about 10 cm

I would support the Ultrasone HFI-680. Ultrasone is generally well received for its very clean and low-decay bass. And its S-Logic does make its soundstage better than most closed headphones out there in the market today.

I have a review of the HFI-580 in my sig, basically the 680 is a more balanced version of the 580.
