Since I sold my Zune I am thinking of getting a new pair of headphones. I was looking at getting a new pair of IEMs to replace my MylarOne X3s but I'm now looking at getting my first pair of cans.

I was thinking of going with ATH-ES7s since they fit in the price range that I'm willing to spend. How is the SQ with these unamped? I'll be using these with a Cowon D2 as my main source. I listen to about everything.

I've read how portable these are, but how is the isolation and comfort? I'd like to use these on flights and whenever I want to relax at home.

Since I'm new to cans, are these the best at that price range? Any others worth mentioning that are around the same price or even cheaper?

Thanks for any help

isolation isn't that great on ES7s - you can still hear buses' engine noises.
comfort is all right after headband mod.

For isolation, HD25-1 are amazing, but they usually go for 160$

I agree on this one. I can still hear buses and engine when I have my ES7s on as well. They are really easy to drive though. When I used them with the Pico they were amazing

I'm leaning towards the ES7s. Also looking into HD 280 Pros, but that coiled cord is ehhh.
