No price constraints. I prefer closed but will take open. Interested in everyone’s opinions. Fastest I’ve heard so far: Diana and Acoustic Research ARH1. Thanks everyone.

TOTL Electrostats (Stax 009(S), HE1, Shangri La, etc.) in general, Susvara and Abyss headphones are the fastest planars i know, for dynamics i'd give it to the Utopia ...

Stax for sure 007 009 current versions - amp will cost $4-7.5k And they are open as all top cans are.

I always associated Denon with having the fastest response, I haven't heard electrostats so can't offer an opinion on those but biocellulose dynamic drivers have lots of speed and decay. Also the titanium coated Ultrasone dynamic driver headphones.

Check out the new coming Audeze LCD5
Know the 2, 3, and 4 plus subversions and I never once though of them as fast. Sumptous, rich, bass heavy, "where is the treble"... There are 4-5 HFM that leave those in the dust for speed. Raal and Orpheus are the only ones outside of the top Stax to compete for that crown. Audeze would have to have turned a massive corner not to be dusted by the Susvara which is high 2nd tier for speed. But I won't hear it until March (the 5).

I keep hearing Stax over and over again and I am so inclined. I just wish they made a closed back.

Anyone heard the Shure KSE1200/1500?

They make great headphones - they don't want to mess around. I'm from the other side of the street. Besides privacy I can't imagine why closed?
