I'm looking for a good tube amp for around $650 or less. I'm currently looking Headroom and Woo Audio. Any Suggestions. By The way... It needs to power a set of K701's and HD650's.

I'm loving my Woo 3+, and for those two phones it would probably be a good choice for you. The 3+ was (re)designed from the 3, specifically to work better with low impedance cans, and even more specifically with the K701's.

I didn't like my D2000's as much as I did the HD650 on the Woo, but they did sound good. Conversely, both cans were very close on my MKV (solid state)...some music I liked the D2000 better for, some the HD650 with that amp, but the Woo kicks ass with the Senns, and vice versa.

I think you can get a Little Dot Mk6 amp for around that price. Notice the Mk6 is a BALANCED amp...

I'm in love with my HD 650's out of the DV 332, a match of pure audio luxury.
Its like listening to pure dark chocolate!

Roll some tubes, and that chocolate doesn't have to necessarily be so dark...

I'm burning in some M8100 Mullards and 6c19 Svetlana's - sounds like heaven. But I'm open to reccomendations ...

Still, for the HD 650 ... go DV !

I learned that last night. Friends and family have like my (stock) D2000's with the Head-Direct EF-1 Hybrid amp (RCA sidegetter for the one tube), but I listened critically to that combo for the first time yesterday, several hours, and did not like it at all. And I love the amp -- kept switching to Senn 600's to hear what was really on the CD. But the very same D2000's sound great with an iQube and my ss beyer amp, and even using the HP-out of my legacy ss stuff from yesteryear (kenwood, hafler).

Would that statement still stand with the HD 600s?

Oh yeah, Yes the DV332 is great with the HD580/600/650 as they are with the LD MK Series...

In the current issue of Stereophile, there is a very favorable review of the Vincent Audio KHV-1pre. They also raved about the Cayin HA-1A.
