I'm looking for a recommendation on a new sound card to replace my AV710.

Currently I am using:
AV710 -> Optical out -> Concerto DAC -> Havana

What's the cheapest card out there that will allow me to get perfect output from the computer to my DAC using optical? Is the XONAR DG going to be as high a sound quality as the more expensive cards? I always get confused when it comes to audio cards and how they will change the sound..

Thanks!

AV710 sound card, that was a well liked sound card, 15 years ago.

The Xonar DG or DGX should work fine for you.
The Xonar DG/DGX comes with Dolby Headphone surround sound.
The Creative Titanium (non-HD) sells used for $50 and comes with CMSS-3D headphone surround sound

haha, 15 years indeed. It's been a frustrating card.

So the DG it is. Thanks :)
