This will be used in driving my HD650(that are on the way

) What do you think would be better? I know that different amps have different sounds, ect...but what would do a better job in driving them do you guys think?

EDIT: Also, the opamp rolling in the Little Dot is a big plus. On the other hand, ray says on his site that if you use a LITHIUM 9 battery with the hornet that you can get something like 120hrs, is this the case? Either way, both seem to have their good sides and bad sides....help me decide

The predator may be another option. The battery life on that seems good. Also, the Pico look interesting...Topic title updated..

HD650's need to be driven with "authority" more than most other cans to sound their best. One observation is that long battery charge life is harder to attain with an amp optimized for HD650's.

I haven't heard the predator or pico, but I have listened to the rest of your list with HD650's. My choice would be one you aren't considering - Mini^3. Take a little of the $$ you save buying a mini^3 and get a couple extra batteries and a stand alone charger.

I would consider getting a desktop amp. I really like the PPAv2 with my HD580's, and it should do very well with the HD650. This will cost less than a pico or predator too.

Edit: If you are looking to go portable, disregard my post.

Thanks for the replies guys! By chance do you have links to the amps mentioned? I'm open to all suggestions, but portable would be better for me.

Thats true. If I could find a portable amp that would drive the 650s (the tomahawk does an ok job actually!) then I would then get a home amp. It seems like the 650s want to open up with the tomahawk, but I dont think there is enough power...

Most of threads Ive read about pico, predator with HD650 told that both of them can drive 650 very well
esp for Predator someone told that Ray used it with 650 when he was making it.
Am I wrong ?

You are right, Ray uses Senns as his reference point while creating his amps...

He uses the hd600 tho, right? Either way the tomahawk seems to be driving them well. It gets them loud enough I think. What else would I be looking for when I see if the amp can "really" drive them?

listening more louder doesn't mean the amp can really drive the headphone

at first, i used a hornet to drive my hd650. i was quite happy with them. though as for upgrade, i went for the graham slee green solo. i'm going with the rest of the people who responded in your thread. if your goign portable, then i would suggest the hornet or the predator, though i haven't heard the latter. if your preference is more on the sq, then go for a desktop amp. hd650 goes very well while climbing up the ladder. it will sound better with more powerful amps.
