Let's talk Psytrance and Goa...

I hadn't seen it mentioned yet but..

Easily Embarassed - Idyllic Life
they're an act from the Netherlands I found while browsing CDbaby. a nice surprise! the album Idyllic Life has a lot of feeling and good variety... breaks, psybreaks, melodic faster stuff, dubby, groovy... the album is very cohesive, rise and falls. the whole thing is mastered with a consistent spacey sound signature.
surprisingly good psychill stuff.. they even have a free EP for download on their label http://www.cardamar.com/releases.php?release=MARP009

Thanks for that one xantus.. its awesome

been digging this lately:
VA - Clipping Paths (2007)

HippieTom:
-stuff like Slackbaba, Nagual Sound Experiment, Easily Embarassed, Chilled C'quence, Entheogenic?
-Spoonbill (quirky, triphop, etc)
-Zero db (upbeat, less psychedelic, use of saw bass)

also if you want more like the track Daheen - Tantric (Foreplay Mix) try the psytrance OneTastyMorsel_-_Illogitechnicallity-2008
oh btw, did you know that Talpa has come out with a new album in 2008?
mmm also I always grouped Transdriver in the same category as Talpa.

I don't think I helped :/

smily_headphones1.gif
. Big thanks.
You know i have only heard of spoonbill and Easily Embarassed witch i really starting to like so now i have plenty to put my fingers into.

The Talpa album you say was new in 2008. Was it the "When The Somberness Becomes A Game
" album?
in that case that is actually my favorite talpa album. i like the dark/freaky/tivoli sound of it. not many agree with me there but i love it.
is it a 3rd?

and Transdriver. Where have i been? i have not one album from them in my collection
confused.gif
. Must do something with that.Fast

And Xantus- Very nice album. Not heard of it before you mentioned it but have listened some to it the last night and its a keeper

glad you like them

another album which has stuck with me is

Asura - Life2
it opens very tribal-orchestral-epic.. very journey oriented, then it settles into a very GOA sound... it is from 2007 but it sounds a good deal older than that, in a good way.
the whole album is an interleaving of ethereal but driving spatial ambience and and really good flowing GOA trance. the back-and-forth between these styles in the layout of the tracks is very well planned out.
melodic, echoes, astoundingly composed. Aramean tribal rhythms, ethereal duduks, hypnotic basslines, symphonic orchestrations, fusion of gentleness and strength.

Cyclotron ¦ Psytrance « DEEPGOA’s Electronic Sessions
^ va - cyclotron 2008
Cyclotron is the debut release from Goblin Records, a Slovakian psytrance netlabel founded by DJ Osku in early 2008. Osku emphasizes Slovakian content but this compilation also features material from Ukraine, Portugal, Italy, and the Czech Republic. The sound is undeniably underground, drawing inspiration from dark psychedelic trance and forest music without following any of the standard formul too closely. The mood is predominantly eerie rather than sinister; this compilation has a strange ambiance that sets it apart from many of the other releases on the market

X2. That is an amazing track. The whole album is great.

Some songs i guess only a few have heard. This is very mixed but it is some tracks/cds that has stuck with me and i listen to some times.

Luomuhappo - Lintukoto From Finland.

Psy Phy 6 - Gecko Echo This track is so unike it has stuck with me over 10 years. Its mushy. and i actually like the poor quality. it makes it sound Very oldish

SHIWA 2000 - INDIAANO From Finland again. I love the easy, happy , experimental style they have there.

James Reipas - Creatures Finnish. they have many great songs IMO

Texas Faggott - Toinen Santa Tim Thick and Pentti Slayer from Finland. The minds behind mandy finnish psytrance groups.

Mandalavandaz - Bombay Booster From Finland again. Poor track but they have some awsome tracks.

Tea Chairs - Sorry Reptoid From Finland. They have only on huge 3cd release.(Tim Thick)

Trio Tetris - Tattarmosshen From yes you know. Very tetris trance. simple and fun

Ka-Sol - Stainless Recreation Sweden finally. Ka-sol is very hypnotic, energizin hard player. i love his music.

Battle of the future buddhas - Mr Fantastic poor quality but they are from sweden and makes very hypnotic music.

Trold - Steady Pulse Trold from Norway have many great songs.

Guy Sebbag & Gal Carmy - Over Seas Classic Trance. Old school trance i like to call it. I could not live without the album. Classic

Trilithon - Trance Dance Old school trance again. Very classic album.

Storm - Storm Hah. not psytrance but it has made me jump in the past.

Peace

Similar to shpongle, shulman ,entheogenic etc:
Slackbaba (uptempo, more like Entheogenic - from Liquid Records, same as Mood Deluxe)
Androcell (entheogenic feel too)
Phuture Primitive (similar to entheogetic)
Bluetech

in the same category//
Chillosophy Vol.2 (the whole series as well)
ABAKUS-That Much Closer to the Sun
Luage-Sundays (2008-chillum, all of these are haha)
Ailo-Concepts
Adham Shaikh - Fusion , Collectivity (ethnic influence. local guy, sonicturtle.com)
VA - Soul Vibration 1 & 2
Nagual Sound Experiment (same guy from Mood Deluxe, darker downtempo)

So, are Shpongle still the undesputed kings of Psybient?
I know shulman ,entheogenic, OTT, Bluetech and Phuture primitive and while good, they are just not as good.
I mean, Sphongles last album was disappointing, and when you actually expected it to be better than the other two....well, what's left to listen to?

I'll check out some of the other names though
