1.) August Burns Red
2.) As I Lay Dying
3.) Lamb of God
4.) Showbread
5.) Underoath
6.) The Chariot
7.) Every Time I Die
8.) Dillinger Escape Plan
9.) Iron Maiden
10.) Slipknot (ya, so what, sue me...)

Just based on how much I personally like them. I'm not into the ridiculously metal stuff, really.

My list is based more on universal appeal, and bands that have more than one killer album. Staying more on the broader territory of metal rather than specific sub genres. (Except one or two bands on the list)

1. Opeth
2. Metallica
3. Black Sabbath
4. Gojira
5. Iced Earth
6. Dream Theater
7. Pantera
8. Megadeth
9. Lamb of God
10. Necrophagist

1. Darkspace (you can officially call me a klingon looking fanboy)
2. Death
3. Metallica
4. ANTI
5. Nocternity
6. Lunar Aurora
7. Burzum
8. Morbid Saint
9. Morbid Angel
10. Amon Amarth

I prefer rather unknown bands as you can see. To tell the truth, other than top 3 the order of those bands arent really accurate because whatever I feel best changes daily, some bands dropping from the list and others appearing to take their place. But top 3 is what gets me everytime because their music is simply awesome in their own way. Darkspace is magnificent blackmetal played to make space ambient music (also rather unique and new idea for black metal. Pitch black and cold deadly space. So tr00 and black!

) , Death for making unrivaled top class deathmetal and Metallica for their first 3 albums of best Thrash Metal out there. Well okay, Morbid Saint has better album than any of those three, but because its also their only album it wont make it to the top three as a band.

I suppose I'll contribute my opinions in order to add to the confusion, insanity & chaos...

1) Iron Maiden
2) Helloween
3) Dream Theater
4) Impellitteri
5) Megadeth
6) Beyond Twilight
7) Andromeda
8) Crystal Eyes
9) Dungeon
10) Dreamtale

Honorable Mentions:
Angra
Symphony X
Redemption
Jorn

P.S. Good luck to the OP trying to keep all of this stuff straight. I can damn near guarantee that there will be 500+ unique bands named by the time this thread has run it's course.

Like my father used to say "Opinions are like as*holes, everybody has one".

Terrorizer would definitely have been included if the list wasn't restricted to just 10.

love both those bands, but Repulsion edges them out due to:

i) the insane fuzzed-out/wall of noise guitar sound;
ii) the acid-corroded vocals; and
iii) the damn lyrics ("Maggots In Your Coffin" WILL be played at my funeral; I don't care what anybody says).

Zack P: appreciate the offer, but the eastsidemetalhd is a dude, dude
