1+...spent quite a bit more on the adaptor cable, if that works straight from the Koss cable, would go for it, save a bunch...

No just the plug you have to cut the old plug off and solder it in.

my error, I thought my adaptor cable was breaking, I had forgotten that I had inserted a Koss extension between the headphones and the adaptor, THAT was starting to fall apart, and cut out 1 channel. Took it out of the system, connected to the Stax 323b, definitely a step up (to my ears) from the Koss energiser. Cleaner, more open, better bass (and I had been enjoying the sound with the Koss energiser, but this brings things up a notch). Don't know what they sell for, or if they are still available (got it used a while back for about $300). It will replace the Koss from now on (I got The adaptor cable from Darin Fong, doing just fine, for those who are not much in the DIY department.).

Well, today I packed up my ESP-950's and sent them back to Koss to be serviced. After 22 years the caps went out on the energizer. No other real issues with them before that, allthough there is a slight rattle in the right earphone. I mentioned it in the note I sent along with them. So we shall see what they do with them.
Mmm it seems like if i move around my rca to 3.5mm around when i am switching songs on my fiio or when the rca cables are bent, the right side on my esp950 kinda cuts out and makes a little bussing noise. I didnt notice this on my magni 2.

Sounds like the cable.
There is also a 3.5mm input on the front of the E-90 you could try that if the Fiio is your source.Mmm it seems like if i move around my rca to 3.5mm around when i am switching songs on my fiio or when the rca cables are bent, the right side on my esp950 kinda cuts out and makes a little bussing noise. Interesting. Is that a legitimate Stax connector or an Amphenol? (eg, Moon Audio sells the Amphenol plug)
I believe it is part of a Amphenol connector. I saw one on Etsy also for $12 and another $15 for the outer shell.

That seems excessive since Moon Audio sell the combination for around $15 plus shipping. Surplus dealers are listing the connector alone (without shell) for $5-10.

It could be any of probably a hundred things - California requires labels on almost everything known to man for basically any reason you can dream up. Like literally it could have BPAs or PVCs in the plastic, it could have some trace amounts of lead or PCBs or whatever on the interior construction, it could've voted Republican, its really impossible to say specifically what they're objecting to.
