How is the soundstage and bass on carbon+009, i really like 007 tonality but i also want more clarity and soundstage of 009.Is the difference in soundstage of 007 and 009 is big or really small? Thanks for replying.

I think i will buy 009s as i listen to classical and old musics a lot more. But how is the bass in them if paired with kgsshv carbon.A lot of people are saying that they match he 1000 or lcd 3s bass, is this true?

I don't know, I don't own the Carbon, but as mentioned above the Carbon is slightly warmer sounding. I'm also not a bass head by any means, so I find the 009 to have sufficient bass and very good bass quality for me. Going by memory the HE1K had softer bass, never heard the LCD-3 but Planars are known for their sub-bass.

Nothing is "true"…it depends on what you hear and prefer.

My BHSE with vintage EL34 is slightly warmer than my Carbon, but I suppose the latter could vary by build and the former may sound brighter with Russian tubes. I heard the Benchmark DAC 1 long ago and didn't like it; I think it's really risky to go with a DAC1/Carbon/009 setup if you value the warmth of a 007. That, and it would be a shame to hold back this level of Stax gear with a DAC 1.

I agree that the BHSE and Carbon are about on the same level overall.

I have SR009 and Carbon. I would say the bass is well extended and quite punchy when the music calls for it, definitely better than HD800 for example when I had mine driven by a monster amp Wells Headtrip. But the bass is not deeper or more punchy than LCD3. However in every other area SR009 is better compared to LCD3, sold them as well. Can't comment on SR007 as I haven't heard them. Agree with above that DAC1 could be the weak link in chain whether you go for 007 or 009.

Bass from the Carbon/BHSE is more sufficed for classical and oldies (you can tube rolling on BHSE to fine tune the bass if need).  I have both with 007 and 009 and never feel a need for more thumping.  I listen to mostly vocal tracks so bass is not so important.

I also have the LCD-3s and I have to admit the bass from e-stat can't quite measure up to the dynamics.  As yates7592 already mentioned, 009 is better in every other aspects.

In hindsight, I'd be happy with Carbon and 009 and saved a few grand$.
