https://audiorabbithole.com/kennerton-audio-equipment-gjallarhorn-gh-40-rognir-dynamic/Hey does anybody here mind sharing the Rognir Dynamic frequency response graph with me? I could not find anything about it when I searched online, and only the Rognir (planar) graph showed up
I'd like a pair of fuzzy 1266 pads please. Very comfy!
Hey everybody, I just wanted to share w/ fellow Kennerton headphone owners - I’ve been buying and trying and customizing a ton of ear pads for a while - probably like a year testing all sorts of different materials and everything and this is what I came up with as my favorite so far…
I just bought a few of these for Kennerton owners -
contact me for info if you like - I am self editing post so to abide by rules of head-fi -
The bass is amazing on the MK2. Originally I thought it was a bit too much compared to the AH-D9200. But now I am addicted to it. I spend much more time with the GH50 now. I look forward to try the new earpads above.Random commentary on the GH50 JM Mk2 - I was watching Joshua Valour on YouTube for entertainment value and he mentioned one of his favorite headphone bass response testing tracks was Losing the Light by Explosions in the Sky. I took that as a sonic challenge for @John Massaria‘s work and let’s just say the results were an epic success.
Sanctions?Just talked to headphonebar in Canada, and they will no longer carry Kennerton. No dealers in Canada left.
I havent taken mine off either they are quiet nice! All around they are my 99% go to pad BUT the other pad offers it's benfits - can hardly wait to hear impressions of sound vs the other pads... on the edge of my seat... thanks again! The Fuzzy pads have arrived!
Too early for listening impressions, but I like what I'm hearing (and feeling!) so far with the custom-fuzzy.
Fit and Materials
Custom Fuzzy
They are super comfy and the headphones feel like warm earmuff now. That's not to say that your ears get "hot" while wearing them, i've been wearing them for about an hour now and my ears feel fairly neutral temperature. That being said if I had to choose a set of headphones to take out in a snow storm these would be at the top of my list. The pads have also relieved some of the clamping pressure I was experiencing with the ZMF Universe tapered pads thanks to the more pliable memory foam material. No issues with ears touching the drivers as well.
Custom Non-Tapered
The extra thickness of Johns pads is much are appreciated. It adds just enough that my ears no longer touch the drivers like the stock Rognir pads. In comparison to the fuzzy's, the non-tapered feel more open. I have a feeling these will increase the soundstage a bit. Skin feel is great with the spandex-like material on the surface. They are definitely cooler than either the stock leather or custom fuzzy pads. They share the same pliable memory foam as the custom fuzzy pads.
Build quality is excellent on both pairs. They were a litter harder to get on than my other sets, but i'm still getting the hang of changing pads on the Rognirs in general. As of now I don't think i'd change anything about the two pads aside of maybe offering a tapered version of the non-fuzzy pad. They're both very well executed.
Measurements & Comparison
Custom Fuzzy Pads:
Thickest part: 36.64mm
Thinnest part: 24.22mm
Custom (Non Tapered): 27.76mm
ZMF Universe Tapered (For comparison)
Thickest Part: 29mm
Thinnest Part: 25mm
Stock Non-Tapered (For Comparison): 22mm
Side-by-side (Custom Fuzzy vs ZMF Universe)
Side-by-side (Custom Non-tapered vs Stock Rognir non-tapered)
These will be staying on for at least the next 24 hours and probably much longer - Love them so far! Thanks @John Massaria
