K702 65th Anniversary Edition
Nov 24, 2012 at 1:11 PM Post #16 of 25
I'm with hifiguy on this one. I have both the Q701 and the K702 anniversary and there isn't $250+ difference in the sound or performance. With that being said I do enjoy the comfort of the memory foam ear pads and the bumpless headband. I'm glad I got the anniversary edition and will sell my Q701 here shortly. Knowing the transducers are handpicked and matched is nice as well.

You won't be able to tell unless you compared the two side by side, critically.

I did that at the Dutch headphone meet last week and there was hardly any difference. Not even in the lows... (between my K702 and a Q701 that is, not the b-day edition).

Also, quite a coincidence that the AKG K702 anniversary edition and the Audio Technica M50 anniversary edition both have a blue ring on them...

The more I listen to the K702AV the more I feel that it may be the BEST K702 release to-date.  The material changes are subtle but pack a punch upon careful evaluation.  Stay tuned for more impressions and review.

Might as well get a Hifiman HE-500..Jeez.

The K701/K702 are in the same ballpark as the HD600 from sennheiser. The new marketing/subtle sound changes don't justify paying double their price. If you're looking at $400 might as well jump into hifimans.

One of my qualms with the K701/K702 is it feels very cheap.
