Just two words... I cant' believe that 8w + 8w 300B can do a better work than a 150w + 150w of a fantastic hybrid BAT (in a fully balanced setup).

Keep in touch, K1000's lovers !

Yeah... but there is 300B and 300B, this amp is something special even thinking to the excellent Cary. This is a power amp with two passive attenuators. There is also a selectable dunmpimg control (feedback) ...

Output transformers are TAMURA, sprague capacitors and all in the highest quality grade.

Never heard a K1000 sounding like this...

During thi test I understand a lot more about this cans... 8 watts better than 150 ??? !!! Tubes and especially 300B better (IMO) tha any other kind (SS or hybrid). Low power highest tubes quality is the "secret"...

Congrats on finally discovering this. It's no secret to those of us that have been driving extremely efficient horn loaded speakers with SET amplifiers. Queue that amp up through a pair of Klipschorns and let the eargasms roll.

After years of experience, I refuse to use any amplifiers that pump out more than 30 watts. Once you have gear that can extract the most from each watt, you just don't need that many.

Next step is for you to try a 2A3 or 45 derived amplifier. 1 to 3.5 watts of extreme power.

With the Air Tight ATM-300 the best 300B are the WE and not the AVVT (these I preferred with the Cary, without any doubt).

The ATM-300 is built for the WE and the sinergy with the K1000 is fantastic, the full sound of the WE match the open-clear sound of the K1000.

If the Cary/K1000 was excellent the Air Tight/K1000 is AMAZING !

I was looking for a 300B amp after the good experience with the Cary.

The big surprise was that the Air Tight ATM-300 sound incredible with the WE 300B that (IMO) is the best tube for the K1000.

These NOS tubes give to the Air Tight/K1000 a new life: WE 300B / Mullard 12au7 / RCA 12bh7a / RCA 5u4gb

.. after a very long tuberolling and testes I come back to the Cary 300B SEI for the K1000.

The Air Tight is an excellent amp, but too in a bright and detailed side, this is not what the K1000 needs (IMO).

With the Cary (AVVT c-37 SL 300B / Tung Sol rp 6sn7gt) I find the highest synergy for my K1000.

Update:

I find the K1000 so relaxed and musical as never I have heard even with the Cary...

The tubes are: AVVT c-37 300B - Mullard 12au7a cryo - RCA 12bh7a - RCA 5u4gb

The interconnect is Anatres Shunyata
The amp has the low gain (6db feedback)
