Hmm, reviewing new headphones with minimal burn-in? I don't know...

You might want to post initial impressions but wait for posting a more definitive review. It often takes a long time to get a feel for a headphone, even if it is well burned-in.

But don't get me wrong, I'm very much looking forward to reading your opinion on the D1100.

Indeed.  but it's what I have to go on.

For what it's worth, I've had and been using my HD5000's for almost a month now.  Every day.  Exclusively and extensively.  I feel like I have a pretty good feel for them and I've certainly played them a few hundred hours at this point.  I don't expect any changes at this point, though I won't completely dismiss the notion.  And I won't say that burn-in is a phantom notion...I'm sure it applies to some (many?) cans...but I'll say I don't see much change in my 5000's from the day I bought them.  they are what they are.

I think some will be surprised at my thoughts on the HD2000's.  and the 1100's...very interesting indeed.

Hows the comparison coming? Are going going to be posting up your thoughts soon? I'm really curious how feel about the D2000 and D1100 after having experience with the D5000.

I think burn in helps. But it won't alter the headphones night and day.

It's come along very well to this point.  My Word document is up to 8 pages *without* the photos.  almost 4,000 words.  lol

I'm going to try to find a way to make it less verbose, but it's going to be tough.  It will definitely require a new thread.

Wow! That's quite a bit of work there. Can't wait until it's done!

Of course a new thread is necessary. It is a review and comparison after all...

lol.  I'm going to try to reduce the text enough to get it all down to at least 1 less page, then take the necessary photos and post.

If it's not up by 10:00pm EST, I'll be up tomorrow afternoon.  I can promise that it'll be worth the time, worth your wait and will hopefully help you decide which of the 3 are right for you.

party on, gentlemen.
