I looked into head units to replace my old Alpine and decided on the Alpine CDA-9857 head unit, partly because of it's really good iPod integration. It's a great unit. I haven't had enough time to have a really good play with it yet but it seems great.

I have been looking at this unit myself. I want impressions. Does the interface really work like the ipod and does it allow for full controlability, not just 6 playlists? Does the unit charge the ipod?

i have one, real popular with the S2000 crowd. works great with ipod, you could browse by playlist OR artist OR album OR song.. with all the traditional tree structure.

down side is UI isnt the MOST intuitive, and you can 'back-navigate' when browsing, but not after a song is selected for play.

good unit overall though
