Jazz guitar suggestions?

Mike Stern - "Who Let The Cats Out" is a good place to start and pretty accessible but most all of his stuff is very good.

Pat Metheny (of course) - He's so diverse so there's much to choose from. "We Live Here" may be a good place to start. His "trio" recordings have a little more "straight ahead" jazz feel to them.

Bill Frissell - "Unspeakable"

Blues Dream is absolutely one of my favorite high quality headphone albums of all time. Though its not really similar to what the op was asking about.

track off that album literally just came on right as I scrolled to it. I had to check to see if some weird embedded music file didn't somehow start playing.

Anyway, great album, especially on a nice set of 'phones, but not at all like the style the OP was mentioning though.

I wish I liked more Scofield albums; he's always impressed me live. The disc I dig that might be up the OP's alley, though, is the live super-trio with Larry Goldings on organ (he's so underrated) and drummer Jack DeJohnette (everybody knows how great he is).

Trio Beyond - Saudades

It's a two-disc set, and though in some places it grooves like A Go Go, it doesn't stay in any one vibe very long.

One of my favorite albums ever.

And as many people said, Wes Montgomery is worth a listen.
