So, the thread on how to hand headphones got me in the mood to build my own stand.
 
I went to the local wood place and found some used and in rough condition Purple Heart wood that was covered in old stain and wax. 
 
I spent 7 hours scraping the wax off the wood and sanding to get down to clean wood.
 
I then added three coats of laquer to protect and bring out the color.  Below are pics - the block are for my amps to sit on, and the tall ones for the headphones.  It's tough to see in these pics, but the wood really is purple.
 
What do you think?

Nice work.. looks nice smooth.. It always took me a few tries before I could make coats look that slick..
 
You have a picture with the speakers in them?
