Hey there,

So after buyin a pair of moondrop lans (my first iems) i decided to get the A2049 Apple USB-C to Headphone Jack adapter (the US version) knowing it has a 1vrms (vs 0.5 on the EU version) dac and its cheap.

Thing is i had to buy it from a thirdparty since i live in the EU and therefor they dont sell the US version overhere.

Now why i do think its fake - as you can see in this screenshot it shows as Speakers (UC02). UC02 is the dac model used by most c to jack adapters and i couldnt find any strong evidence its the one apple uses aswell.

Now this is from my friend who has the EU version:

As you can see at least it says Headphones and not speakers, also in device manager it says Apple Dongle.

At first i thought its a driver problem and somehow windows doesnt let the dongle to install the driver, but i couldnt find the driver available anywhere so i dont know about that.

Can someone with the US version drop some pics so i have something to compare with or its not even needed since its kinda obvious that its a fake?

Cheers!

I doubt there's fakes of a $9 device, but they did make fake Apple chargers (which sold here for $29 in the day). I'd run Windows update just to see if it refreshes the driver.
Here's what my real one looks like:

Thx for the input.

Well if they buy it for pennies from alibaba and sell for 5-10$ (apple stores dont exist everywhere in the world) i think it would be pretty profitable.

As for the windows update, i tried it on 2 PCs, one win10 one win11 and no luck.
