Is the ATH 700 neutral?

I am considering these... but am also considering the KRK KNS 8400. Which is more neutral? Fidelity is important to me.
Thanks for reading. :)

My ATH-AD700s lack of bass is a turn off for me.
I would say go for the KRK KNS 8400.

The ad700 is fairly neutral until you reach the bottom end I think. Then again, Im not the most experienced in headphones I've listened to so the ADs are my current perception of neutral.

If you want neutrality, I'd say the HD280 even though they're closed. Extremely neutral.

I always forget about the 280. It is really balanced sounding.

Yeah, I just feel like these other cans will be a downgrade from my Pro 900. I still want the killer amount of detail and excellent sound stage, ya know?

Getting the m50, ath 700 or hd 280 would be a downgrade it seems. But it sounds like the KRK KNS 8400 is a detail monster.

I would consider the m50 neutral to my ears.

Crazy treble and recessed mids. Not neutral at all. I actually thought the bass was fantastic though.

Edit: Wait, are we talking about A700 or AD700? I was talking about A700 to clarify.

We are talking about the AD700 which is def. Bass lite.

Hm. I was kind of confused because the title of the thread just says "ATH 700."

By the way OP, don't know if you are still looking, but might I recommend looking into the Brainwavz HM5/Fischer FA-003? They are quite neutral, and have an excellent soundstage. Detail is perhaps not immaculate, but very satisfying IMO.

I pulled the trigger on the KRK KNS 8400. And the thread is about the ATH, not the AD.

I was considering the Fischer Audio 003 but apparently the right driver has this problem with a big spike at a particular frequency (but this has yet to be confirmed). Furthermore, the fact that they are Yoga, Brainwavz and Fischer Audio makes me feel a little funny. Sounds like a bit of a knock off. Another thing that bothers me is that if you order the cups they often don't fit. The company just seems like a joke so I decided to stay away from them.

Sorry if I'm being annoying, but both of them are called ATH. ATH-A700 (closed) and ATH-AD700 (open). Congratulations anyway though and happy listening.
