In ears hurt my ears. I prefer on ear, they are much more comfortable IMHO and sound better as well IMHO.

To me, on- ear are just for people who want to make a statement in public yet remain relatively discreet if I'm making any sense. 

It doesn't make sense to me since I tend to use open-back, on-ear headphones around the house.

Every form factor has its strengths and weaknesses.
