Is battery power components better?

I found this thread in another forum which suggests that batter power may not be as good a thing for noise levels as sometimes is suggested.

Has anyone any insight into this?

those results seem plausable. It's been posible for a few years to get diode based referances with lower noise than the weston cell which is used as a voltage referance for calibration of test equipment. I think the weston cell is due to be replaced as the standard referance due to this some time in the futre if it hasn't been already.
