I'm in need of an upgrade, and the K-240s seem really nice. However, I don't want to spend as much as I did on headphones on an amp. Will the FiiO E6 be enough for them?

I'm also using the Gigabyte 970A-UD3 (rev 1.2).
You would be better off getting the Asus Xonar DG (PCI, $27) or DGX (PCI-E, $37) sound card, there is a $10 mail in rebate.
The Gemini HSR-1000 (Takstar Pro 80) closed headphones, might be a better value and they have really good audio quality, for their price, $50-$60.
Older sound cards did not come with headphone amplifiers, but it seems just about any sound card that has come out in the last few (2) years comes with a built in headphone amplifier (some more powerful then others).
The Asus Xonar DG/DGX comes with a basic headphone amplifier, good for headphones up to 150-Ohms.
Many phones out there are like mine (HTC) and they just don't have enough juice. So I picked up the FiiO E6 amp to try out and see if it would produce better output in my AKG K172. It seems to be enough power. The impedence at 55ohms are the same as the K240 and K271.
