The lineout of the ipod is highly regarded in the hifi scene as one of the best lineouts on a DAP. It is used with an amplifier. But what if you dont use an amp but an attenuator instead to adjust and tame the volume of the ipod. What kind of sounds can you expect?

Because I want to drive my yuin pk1 (unamped they just sound like yuin pk3s) but I dont want to necessarily use an amp

Try Teclast T39 with PK1. They works very well without amp for me.

The lineout of the iPod is not intended to drive headphones. It doesn't have the current capability to drive them. You may get away with it for a little while, but you could potentially harm the DAC (or whatever is actually the driver).

If you're not using an amp just use the headphone output.
