Hello all. I am traveling for the next few weeks and would like to use my iphone to access the internet via wifi. If I put the phone in airplane mode am I still subject to the huge charges that some users reported when the phone first came out?

if you leave it in airplane mode all the time whats the point of taking it. just leave it on normal but dont use the internet on it unless its connected to a wi fi point.

Airplane mode disables Wi-Fi. Go into your settings and disable data roaming.

In March, I was in Ireland. I had data roaming turned off and I kept it in Airplane Mode until I got to a Wi-Fi hotspot, where I would turn it off. Worked great and I had zero additional charges. In a way, I'm glad I didn't have much Internet access. There were too many things to see, places to go and stuff to drink.
