Are there any other albums that might be similar? I've listened to samples from the other Immortal albums and none of them really struck me as "must-buy" albums like At The Heart of Winter. I can't seem to get enough of this album.
Yup. Every one of them is great in their own way. But yes, At The Heart Of Winter is propably Immortals best work to date. I have listened it way too much though.
You might also want to take a look on Imperial Crystalline Entombment. They are practically Immortal rip-off, with same themes and similar slight tongue-in-the-cheek take on Black Metal.
Also check out Lunar Aurora - Andacht. Again black metal with really cold atmosphere, but more serious take than Immortal. A fantastic album IMHO, good enough to be as my permanent avatar here.
