No, I didn't recieve my GS1000. What I did recieve however was an eargasm of cataclysmic proportions. Went out of town today together with my brother (Ahobaka here at Head-Fi) and tried some CD players to see what might go well with my GS1000.

By chance, they happened to have a pair of SR225 lying in a box (blashphemy I tell you, they had 1000 headphones just stuffed down there and when he pulled the Grados up, the headphones rattled in pain from his abuse). Putting his disrespect for headphones aside, these were the most amazing headphones I have ever heard. Sure, they were played out of a $13000 Linn Majik / Magik system but oh the sound!

I also tried them with a bit cheaper CDP, the Linn Ikemi for $2000. Best stuff I ever heard. So much more value than the $13000 rig. Going back to try the Ikemi once I get my GS1000 and Opera to see how it preforms. Big chance that I might buy it, and then I will have spent like $5000 on my new headphone rig... wow...

I actually prefer the RS-2 or RS-1's over the GS-1000's. Maybe you should give those a listen too

The Grado SR225 is a great headphone for the money, like most other Grado 'phones...
Enjoy!

I agree. I put those SR 225 on that a friend let me try out and they were amazing. Right then and there I ordered the SR 225s. I'm also going to try the RS1s as well. I definitely love the Grado sound.

Giving them a try will be hard as there is no Grado retailer within 200 miles of my home (and the shop I went to don't stock the RS-2 or RS-1). Can't buy them either after spending $1300 on a pair of GS1000 with a Black Dragon cable.

There is a limit on how much influence Head-Fi has over me. For example, it can't convince me to buy cans I really can't afford.

From what I hear, SR225's and GS1000's are two very different beasts. You may crave that SR225 sound sometime again!

I guess you don't live in Stockholm, 'cause Ljudmakarn at Drottninggatan have a couple of Grados, including the gs1k. At least they did two months ago when I was there and was shocked to see them behind the counter

Nope, Piteå. Quite the trip for a pair of headphones.

Hey me too, I just got SR80's today. Now I just need to build a Millett Hybrid to power them! (or a PIMETA)

As my brother said, I've also been officially Grado'ed. I'll be hitting the wallet with a mallet in a few days. Be it for the SR225's or the 325i's, probably going to end up being the 225's for economical reasons though
