I have heard a lot about the Audio Technica ATH-30's, but thats just about it.

Does anyone have reccomendations for good headphones? I enjoy a good amount of bass, but am not a basshead. I would like crisp mids and highs. Generally, I listen to R&B, hip-hop :p, and rap.

If you post a link to a seller, please, make the seller reputable and well known.

Thanks!

HD428 or DT235 sounds like what you're looking for.

Also look at the JVC RX700 if you're not looking for a portable.

Dt235 is on ear(not over) and sounds like they won't have enough bass for the OP.

Maybe the M35 is worth a look...

HD428:
They seem great, but a little pricey compared to the ATH30's. $50 dollars off amazon vs. $40.

DT235:
Haven't found too much on them, but I'll keep looking.

JVC RX700:
Seem good, but I found many complaints about them getting hot quickly, and about bad sound isolation.

Do you have an opinion about the ATH30's?

DT235 should be circumaural; at least if you have small ears.

DT235 should have good bass and impact. Possibly enough for the OP.

HD428 can be had at $40 like new on amazon.

RX700 will possibly do hip hop the best of all the headphones mentioned here. Do more research. Some find the comfort very good and I heard differently about it's isolation. The HD428 doesn't have such good isolation either. Feels more like a true semi-open headphone.
Although the RX700 isn't that great for portability.

Last time I talked to someone about the M30/5 they said they are very boring. Might want them if you want a reference headphone.

Look at this thread for some more insight in the sub-50 range:

Thanks, I'll look into the 700's a bit more!

What about JVC m750s?

Just so you know, the place I'm looking for possiblities is this thread:

I'm looking at the best to worst chart.

Yeah I was going to post it here but it's good you found it already.

Yeah for portable headphones check that thread out. Although I don't think the RX700 would be a good portable.

Well, as of now, I'm deciding between the Audio-Technica ATH-M30, the  Beyerdynamic DT235 , and the  JVCJVCJVC RX700. Thoughts for someone who likes pretty heavy, but not overpowering bass?

Previously owned the DT235, auditioned the M30.
If it comes down to those 2, there is no contest: the M30 is your friend. DT 235 does not have significant amounts of bass, and unless your ears are very, very small it won't be "over"/around the ears at all. M30 has some bass, not overpowering--less than its big bro the M50.

Side note: if you ever find the ATH-M40, don't be fooled into thinking they are bassier than M30. According to a store owner I spoke to (who sells all 3 models, but was out of stock of the M40), the M40 is actually more neutral than both M30 and M50.

Actually, looking at the rx 700's, they seem to beat the M30's at almost everything. The frequency response is far better, going 12 hertz lower, and 5000 hertz higher. Also, it seems that everyone is VERY impressed by the bass on the rx700's, and less so on the M30's. The impedance is lower on the rx 700's, making it easier to drive without and amp. The only places where the M30 wins out are looks, size, and slightly less subdued vocals.

Now I'm leaning towards the rx700's. Which ones size would be better for me, as I'll be listening at home and on airplanes etc? These won't be my dailys.

The only other option is the JVC m750, but I'm not sure if its worth the extra 10 bucks. I hear a lot of complaints about the speakers in the 750's blowing out... thoughts?
