Hi, please someone let me know, for STAX headphones, if it is best to go with a dedicated STAX amp for example SRM-700S or iFi iCAN Phantom will be just as good? Do both use transformers to create the very high signal voltages for the electrostatic headphones or only iFi iCAN Phantom use them? I am asking because I've read that energizers that use transformers, degrade/colour the sound. I am guessing since STAX SRM-700S is a dedicated electrostatic amp, it doesn't use transformer to create the very high signal voltages and therefore sounds better? I would of course prefer to buy iFi iCAN Phantom as it is also a good amp for dynamic and planar headphones. Thanks!
