I was a huge MD fan back in the day and think the format is cool, but I just don't see the supply of new MDs and hardware there to make a meaningful difference. It was a niche product back in its' heyday, I can't even see it returning to that.
An entry turntable that is not just a repurpose of the skywin, hanpin or leetac mechanisms on the market. Walked into a big box retailer here in australia and there was literally like 15 or so turntables all from different brands who should in theory have nothing to relate them together all using the same turntable mechanism. It just screams of laziness and I feel ifi if they were to go into the turntable market could genuinely bring something new and actual competition to this sector of turntables
I'd love a sequel of the Go Blu, i.e. Go Blu2. Maybe lower the hiss of the OG, introduce IEMatch, and add a display - and that's that. Instant purchase.
This is true within the native players. The good thing about Android is you can download Neutron or UAPP (my choice) in the Google store and both provide gapless playback, at least within my Shanling.
But to the subject at hand, I agree with others here that a high end, iFi DAP would be exciting! That may be too much more in your wheelhouse than a turntable, though! Bring it iFi!
