Much to my chagrin for not listening sooner, I just got around to listening to Herbie Hancock's Head Hunters. If I love that, I will also like...

Herbie Hancock - Thrust . This is the sister album from the same year.

That album is the sh@#!! Palm Grease is as funky as thing I have ever heard.

I would recommend some Ulu or some Soulive. Ulu is no more, but they are very much in the style of the Headhunters.

Stanley Clarke - School Days
Jaco Pastorius - Jaco Pastorius
   and perhaps...
Miles Davis - In a Silent Way or Bitches Brew

It is definitely very similar, but wasn't that released a year later?

Miles Davis - Standing on the Corner

Oh god. Haha, this one takes a little getting used to. It's "On The Corner" though, not "Standing on the Corner"

These are both very good recommendations, but you should probably listen to some easier Miles Davis stuff before diving into "On The Corner". Try "A Tribute to Jack Johnson". "Thrust" is a very good album though, and you're guaranteed to like it.

I'm alittle late to the conversation here. Both of those Herbie Handcock albums are very good.

Also check out Ramsey Lewis. Great music from him. Sungoddess in particular.

Those were some nice selections Jade.
