Some possible possibilities:
- The 4.4 jack is not inserted completely to make good connections? It does take more effort than the other jack, especially when new. Have heard this happen to folks before.
- The Fiio BL44 is defective?
- Some problem with your DX160's 4.4mm jack. Maybe some lint or dirt causing poor connection? Try inspecting/cleaning?
- Or maybe the 4.4mm Jack's solder joints? If solder joints, sound may improve/cut out when you try to wiggle the Fiio BL44's 4.4 tip.
- Some problem with your DX160's balanced circuit.

Just an update. I contacted Paul and he suggested making a spacer to allow for possible variances in plug manufacturing. So I made a spacer and the 4.4mm output works fine. I did order and iBasso CA02 so it will be interesting to see if a spacer is needed with it.

well, I just tried my Fibae 7 on the 4.4 jack and man is it too much power. Great damping and control of the drivers. Things sound 'faster' and 'tighter', more focused. But I can't get past 10 on the volume in low gain with this monitor balanced without it being too loud for my liking. Very little play in the volume range with Fibae 7. Sound-wise, I think it outperforms SE, but the power is legit.

Also, while I hear a very very faint 'waterfall' hiss that is constant on 4.4, I no longer hear the processor scratching noise. Go figure.

anyone having problems getting sd cards to work, tried 2 128gb ones but can only use about 14gb of space on each one, unable to change card format type like i usually am, just wondering if im getting broken cards?

I'm using a 256gb sandisk extreme and no problem, did you try in Windows if you have the same problem? I would say to try and eventually partition the sd card with the storage manager, deleting the volume and re create it and format it as exfat
Which model do you have?

No problem here with 400GB SanDisk Extreme as well... better to format directly from the player or use extFAT if you have a Mac or Linux PC

Yup, I've been using 4.4 lately for that reason. You don't hear the processor scratching noise from balanced out. The very faint waterfall hiss does not bother me and I would gladly take that over the processor noise.

Has anyone used tidal offline with the dx160. Does it utilise the internal DAC or android for processing. Is there much difference between the sound quality of a FLAC file through mango player or tidal offline. Thanks in advance

Is it just me or does the DX160 not work with cables with inline mic/controls?

Here the answer from ibasso when I ask to ibasso

The DX160 supports OMTP standard. Your IEM with mic is CTIA standard. If you would like to use it on the DX160, you need a converter to convert OMTP to CTIA.

So there is 2 type cable connector for cable with mic.

OMG. Thank you for getting the info; but, why would iBasso sell with OMTP outside China? That's crazy! Edit: OK, not crazy, I assume it's so they can minimize manufacturing costs. But certainly really, really annoying. Maybe annoying enough for me to return it.
