Hey guys,

I can't remember what services to stop to get the unit to reindex and scan media...does anyone know?

I just found out I have to take a trip to China...and thought it might be nice to pick up a second DX100 for my son.  It appears I'll be around Shanghai.  Any recommendations where to pick one up..and whether it would be any cheaper than purchasing one via mail from the U.S.?

Just a suggestion but maybe look at the HDPR10 instead. I read it has some slight improvements over the DX100. However you can not use ibasso to get the player serviced, which imo is a major downfall.

I think "Media" is the service. But I'm not sure if you should stop that from starting or set it to manual start - can cause system crash?

I think someone with a better understanding of android can chime in :)

I got it...you have delete the data file. That causes it to re scan upon reboot.

The DX100 with CIEMs is what makes my workday bearable... Pop in the CIEMs, press play, receive aural bliss.

Sure the DX100 has its faults. Yes it is an expensive brick. But I am still waiting for someone to come up with a better one-box solution for (C)IEMs or even full size cans for that matter. And the fact that I use it at my desk really negates the poor battery life and the size and weight of the thing.

I'm with you Søren.

I don't treat it as a portable player (firmly believe that chasing portable hi-fi is a silly endeavour) but as a transportable it isn't beat by anything.

Having the DX100 is like being able to toss your desktop dac and amp into your bag and take them out when you get to your destination.

Agreed, I keep my DX100 @ work and it keeps a healthy 128gb of my favorite music in lossless and I use it with the O2 amp for a nice portable rig with the HD650.  Truly one of the more cost effective audio gear I've purchased on this never ending journey.

Thinking getting a dx100, is it problem free yet? Can it sound good out of the box?
Or do I need to do course on computers to get it working properly ,

I use it straight out the box...no amps...no nuffin....Sounds excellent to me...makes my JH13FP sing....which it's younger brother (DX50) can't quite manage.

I still get the occasional hang (cured with a paperclip), but other than that....it works great

Mine has been hassle-free, bar the odd quirk like playing albums out of order despite my best tagging efforts (which reminds me - I need to fix a couple of ones I've noticed mistakes on, doh!). The only thing I don't like about the DX100 is how thick it is, other than that, very happy.

Mine sounds amazing out of the box.  I use it mostly with Westone 4Rs, I've never been even slightly tempted to use an outboard amp. In fact, the built in amp is a beast!  I've on occasion even used it to drive my LCD-2.2s

Mine has also been problem free.  There are a few "quirks".  As has already been mentioned, it can be a bit picky with respect to tags, but I have not had any problems that made it stop working.  The music comes out sounding great!.
