They sound great but soemtimes they irritate my ears because of how far up in there they have to go.  I am starting to look for a new pair that has a shallower set but still good isolation.  Aroudnthe same as far as sound signature goes.  The hippoVB has been in my sights for a while.  any other suggestions?

I don't think they go in your ear far at all, maybe you should try bigger tips. The Sennheiser IE line goes in shallower, but they don't have that isolation.

If there is ever a "I like it, but..." in your statement, it's time for new headphones!

I loved them too when I had them. They sounded pretty good, the fit was above average, and the isolation was excellent.

One problem, they started irritating the inside of my ear canal. I would start to get a bit itchy, so I would have to take them out and take a break after about 1/2 hour.

So I guess I'm in your same boat. Looking for an IEM with shallower isolation that doesn't irritate me after a short session.

exactly my problem.  I have been perusing both of those threads again and am looking at the Hippo VB or the Panny HEJ900 so far.

I had the same problem which is why I switched to Shure Olives.  They were my favorite tips for the S4's by far.
