I just wanted to shamelessly blow my own trumpet a little bit. Today after seven (count them, 7) long painful years I finally printed off and handed in my Dissertation and got all the forms signed and handed in.

I did this with 3 days to spare. On Monday my allotted time would officially end.

Phew !

I have now spent 13 years (> 1/4 of my life) in tertiary education

My PhD is in Information Science and Technology. My only connection with "Philosophy" is that I once had a "Heidegger was a Nazi" T-shirt printed for one of my professors as payment for taking part in one of my experiments.

I have lived "in the world" for many years beforehand, I was an IT Professional for 15 years, but I am staying in the realm of academe for the time being, that said you havent seen "nasty political" till you have spent a few years with the dome-headed types
