Hi! I need some advice on choosing high end IEM for my tastes.
I am looking for an endgame hybrid IEM for metal music. I am listening mostly to black metal, viking metal, some doom metal and sometimes some acoustic\neofolk\ambient. I prefer dark sound signature so I want something with recessed highs, sibilance free without any peaks at 5-6 KHz. I auditioned UM Merlin and while I really liked their bass I just can't stand their brightness. Actually the bass of Merlin is the reason why I want hybrids now. My portable sources are HiFiMAN HM-801 and Altmann Tera-Player. I am not sure yet if I should go for universal or custom IEM. Any ideas?

I would suggest you look at the SE846. Not a hybred but the low pass filter gives a great bass response with polite treble. Opeth and Dream Theater as well as Black Sabath sound great on them. PM me if you any further questions.

You may want to wait until the Sony XBA-H3 comes out:

Thanks! But why do you think that those will be a dark sounding IEM's? Any reviews yet?

No reviews that I've seen yet.  If you want dark you really may not want a hybrid.  Maybe you can find something in the Basshead thread?

Not hybrid, but maybe the ie80.

No, those are terrible in my opinion. I am looking for something of much higher quality. Something like UM Merlin but without any brightness.

Maybe these?

My older Atrios were so damn dark.  The bass extension was sublime, in fact the best I have ever heard in an IEM.

I don't really want a basshead IEM. I don't want an overwhelming bass, thats for sure. I want an IEM with dynamic bass driver because I don't like the BA drivers bass, not the quantity but the quality of it. And I want it to be combined with high details of BA drivers on the mids and a little recessed or neutral highs without any peaks. Thats why I am thinking about hybrids.

The headphones I really like are Sennheiser HD-650 and Audez'e LCD-3 actually. The only IEM I have currently is the Monster Turbine Pro Gold. I kinda like it but would like an upgrade in terms of general quality, sound stage etc.

What about such models like FitEar ToGo! 334, Tralucent Audio 1plus2, Rhapsodio RDB V1, Aurisonics ASG-2 hybrid universals? Will those fit my tastes?

FitEar TG!334 is a BA-drivers IEM and is very picky with their source.
I've read some user reviews that the Altman TP will change their sound-sig by rolling-off the bass, so you might wanna cross that out.
I sold my AK100 as the 22Ohm OI screws the bass of the 334.

Of the 3 hybrids, I've only auditioned the 1p2 and ASG-2.
From your sound preference, I'm incline to suggest the ASG-2 for you
