I've recently read a lot of posts about DT880s, and I'm thinking that
it might be my next audio purchase if I don't decide to go electrostat.

Just one thing I'd like to know - how well do these cans block out
outside noise? It doesn't have to be 'isolating' like IEMs, but I started
using a computer-based setup and it would be quite helpful if the
headphones can mask out the air ventilation noise from my laptop.

Can anyone comment on this based on their experience with these cans?
Thank you in advance for help.

They isolate as well as most other open cans-- hardly at all. I can clearly hear my computer, even though it's quiet, with the DT 880s on. If you're not used to open headphones it may take awhile to get used to, but it doesn't really distract me at all.

They are listed as semi-open cans, which in reality means that they are open cans. Do not expect them to isolate. They may block a couple of dbs of sound, but at moderate volume you will be able to here environment noises. I know at my listening levels I sure can. Like all open cans, you will get maximum performance in a quiet environment.
