Recently I ran into a problem with both my SCl3 and SE315 -- both were muting from one side and playing loudly on the other.
Sometimes this can be because there's water in one side (i.e. sweat after the gym), but this lasts only a day until the water dries out and the earphones become 100% functional again.
However, if they are permanently dysfunctional on one side, try removing the filter itself using a toothpick (the metal and the little filter). Solved both my SCL3 and SE315 yesterday. I don't know why, it just works.
Anyone else have experience fixing shures? I have a SE530 that's bummed out...
