Hey all,

Having a real moment trying to figure this out.

So I have a PC and decent 2.1 Speakers with Optical or USB outputs.

I have a Denon DM41 lying around not doing much and was wondering, could I connect this in the middle of this chain and use this for better audio quality? Meaning the M41 handling the processing?

I have tried to plug from PC > M41 > 2.1 Speakers via optical but no audio is coming through the PC.

Thanks in advance for any help, still new to this kinda thing.

Did you switch to optical out (PC) and to optical in (M41)? Your speakers have USB out and optical?!

Hey there, thanks for the reply.

I plugged optical cable into optical out on pc, into optical in on the m41 but then stuck as to where to plug the speakers in, the pc speakers only have optical, USB and L + R ports.

You can wire the speakers with cables to the amp (L+R, plus and minus) if you have a normal "analog in" at the speakers. You have active speakers. But if you have the inputs L + R (+ & -), the amp in the speakers will not be used.

They don't. They have Optical and USB inputs.
Might help to specify brand/model.

As they have optical and USB inputs, they are powered speakers, speakers with a build-in amp.
Hence your Dm41 is of no use as it is intended to drive passive speakers.
