How many CDs / Records do you own?

I'm currently working on my music collection. Don't have an exact number, but i'd say i have a bit more than 500 records. That's pretty good for me once this number is increasing quite fast. I'm not even close to the collection i want, but i'm working hard on it ...

I'm in the 2-5k area for CDs and LPs combined. Not sure I will ever hit 10k unless I manage to grab some full collections when people dump their music in favour of digital files.

I have over 10,000 but probably listen to about 1,000. I have music at home, office, car, storage, way too much. But then it helps working for a music company

You are my hero

In the neighborhood of 4K, with a few more LPs than CDs. Am in the process of jettisoning my jewel boxes (in favor of Cadence sleeves) to make more room!

Roughly 6,000 LPs and 3,000 CDs.
Why do I feel I haven't scratched the surface yet?
There is just so much good music in this world!

Nah, I'm a serious music guy. I'm taking a break from the audio thing. I have a very modest stereo setup, a very expansive studio setup, and next to no headphone setup. The music simply takes too much of my time these days.

Man, you guys are monsters! Right now I'm at a paltry 283 CDs. Yes, I counted them just for the occasion.

how do you guys afford? Where do you get your CD's? I'm guessing you all spend between £5-10 (sorry $10-20) on an average CD album? If I bought all the albums I wanted I would probably still only have about 500 and be multiple thousands of £/$ in debt!

What's everyone's view to downloading these days? i use it to check out bands before I buy the album. Obviously for the quality I wouldn't use MP3's for any propper listening other than to trial

I'm all for "trial downloads" as long as you have the intent on buying the album if you like it. If I download an album, I usually only keep it for roughly 24 hours. Just long enough to listen to it once. If I like it, I make plans to buy a hard copy. If not I delete it. Heck, I go so far as to delete albums off my computer and DAP if I ever sell the CD. If it wasn't for this method I'd imagine that my CD collection would be a good deal smaller than it is now.
