i recently got a ian canada hat for the raspberry pi and switched from usb to toslink (still need to try coax) and noticed that the sound is way smoother, it could be because of better source clock but i also think the transport method (toslink/coax) plays a role in the smoother sound i hear

what expierence made you guys? how does I2S compare to toslink/coax and usb? is it closer to toslink/coax than usb?

just tried XMOS so far but i also read good things about unison

for me it feels like XMOS is way too susceptical to stuff or usb filters/cables etc wouldnt matter as much as they do
