I was wondering if there was a cheap way to modify my SR-60s (with whatever pads came with them in early 2001) to make them less subjectively fatiguing. Something like using different pads. My main setup is a Headroom Little w. crosfeed always on & AKG 501s, so I guess that speaks volumes about my listening preferences. In comparison, the SR-60s driven by Laptop soundcard & MD player which I use in the office are just too stressful/fatiguing (to my ears only; no absolute judgment of any kind implied).

Any help is appreciated as always. I don't want to / can't really afford to get new headphones and the SR60s are substantially not bad phones so I would prefer a mod of some kind.

Thanks!

Hmm.....I think the comfies come with SR60s, and they are supposed to be the darkest, warmest sounding pads......

Who was it that tried blowing up his SR80s or something (VERY HIGH volumes) and.....well...tamed the treble?

definately get some comfies. and something with crossfeed. from what I read around here concerning crossfeed is that when you've used it a lot, you'll actually "need". it.

from the reviews I've read, the sr80 is brighter than the sr60. the sr60 is bright depending on your point of reference, but they can be very smooth and warm. although I don't recommend blasting your cans to tame them, I got a feeling it might help. more of a last resort.

There is really nothing you can do with SR-60, that is Grado sound.

I can listen to K501 for many hours, even the whole night. With Grado, I can only listen for 1 CD, 2 CD is max, and I have to take a break. AKG is from Venus and Grado from Mars.
